Baby Food

Broccoli, Barley, Brown Rice

Making your own baby food can be daunting at first but it gets easier with each batch you make.  We decided to give it a try since it would be more nutritious (no preservatives, yay!) and it's also very practical.

They say that for the first couple of months of eating solid food, the baby is still "practicing" how to eat - getting used to new tastes and textures.  (The bulk of his nutrition still comes from breast milk or formula.)  My baby is 11 months already and his appetite for solid food is still not very consistent yet.  There are days when he'll eat a lot.  On other days, he'll refuse to even taste what I offer.  Hence, there can be a lot of wastage.  I think I would feel bad about all the food going to waste if I was buying little jars of baby food that cost a couple of dollars each.  But since we make our own, I don't feel so bad and don't force my baby to eat when he doesn't want to.  I just keep in mind that he's still learning how to eat.

Here's a peek into our baby food experiences.
